Red Deer Centre, Red Deer
On October 15th, 2001 Parkland Mall became Red Deer Centre. Constructed in 1970, the mall was the city's first regional shopping centre. Originally anchored by Safeway and Woolco, it was home to 23 stores and gave area residents the opportunity for one stop shopping. Since then there have been several renovations and expansions and has grown from 23 to over 100 stores with Sears, Wal-Mart, Safeway and the new Sport Chek anchoring the centre.
